EPDM Residential Roofing Systems
The success of Firestone RubberGard EPDM in commercial
roofing applications has led Firestone to expand into the
domestic roofing market segment. Firestone RubberGard EPDM
indeed offers a dependable and durable solution for domestic
roofs, both for renovation as well as new built applications.
Firestone has developed various Residential Roofing Systems
to offer a customized solution for residential applications:
Firestone EPDM Fully Adhered System
System Benefits
- Application on any slope
- Applicable to unusual roof
configurations
- Lightweight system
- High wind uplift performance
- Aesthetics
|
 |
System Criteria
The Firestone EPDM Fully Adhered System can
be applied on any building where the substrate
is compatible with Bonding Adhesive to provide
sufficient adhesion.
For insulated roofs the ability of the roof deck
to provide sufficient pull out resistance for
the fastening system should be established.
System Installation
The EPDM membrane is fully adhered directly
to the substrate using Firestone Bonding
Adhesive. When necessary, adjoining sheets are
overlapped and spliced with QuickSeam Splice
Tape. |

Firestone EPDM Ballasted System
System Benefits
- Low installation cost
- Use of large EPDM panels
- Fewer seams
- Fast installation
- Superior weathering resistance
- Large choice of compatible
substrates
|
 |
System Criteria
The Firestone EPDM Ballasted Roofing System
is suitable for virtually all buildings designed
to accommodate the weight of the ballast. It is
ideal for accessible roofs with slopes of less
than 1:6.
System Installation
The large EPDM membrane panels are loose laid
on the substrate. When necessary, adjoining
sheets are overlapped and spliced using
Firestone QuickSeam Tape seaming technology.
Once completed, the membrane is ballasted using
approved stones or smooth pavers, with a minimum
weight of 50 kg/m2.

Firestone EPDM Mechanically Attached
System
System Benefits
- Non penetrating
- Use of large EPDM panels
- Fast coverage
- Fewer seams
- Lightweight
- Aesthetics

System Criteria
Firestone RMA Mechanically Attached System
offers an economical installation method on
roofs where the roof deck will provide
sufficient pull out resistance for the fastening
system.
System Installation
The RMA System is developed around
the Firestone QuickSeam RMA strip, a 254
mm wide strip of reinforced EPDM
membrane incorporating two strips of
self-adhesive QuickSeam Splice Tape
laminated along each edge over the
entire length of the strip.
The RMA strips are laid out over the
substrate and mechanically secured to
the roof deck. The EPDM sheets are then
adhered to the mechanically attached RMA
strips using standard QuickSeam Splice
Tape seaming techniques. |
